Most often an Usher is the first person a worshipper encounters which highlights the importance of the role the Usher plays in the worship experience.  Psalms 84-10 says: "For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand outside.  I'd rather be a door-keeper in the house of God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness."

Ushers are responsible for making members of the congregation and visitors feel comfortable; and more importantly assist the Pastor in providing spiritual dignity to the worship service.  Ushers help set the tone in preparation for the worship service, as well as maintain the smooth operation throughout the service.  "Let all things be done decently and in order" (1 Corinthians 14:40).
